A PIES + PETALS THANKSGIVING

Thanksgiving is a big deal here at Pies + Petals. Partly because it's America's largest pie loving celebration, and partly because we have so much to be thankful for (and I also really love sweet potato biscuits and mashed potatoes with gravy).

Last year for Thanksgiving, I made 29 pies and 17 deliveries to 10 different cities. It was a successful day, and I thoroughly enjoyed contributing to so many different family celebrations... I also very much enjoyed getting home after that long day and celebrating (aka recuperating) with Chinese food and a Seinfeld marathon.

Before: At the time, I was working out of Frontier Kitchen in Haymarket, Virginia. Here's a photo of me in my Cabrio, filled to the brim, and headed for my first day of Thanksgiving baking in the kitchen. Slightly scared but still really excited...

After: 48 hours later, Thanksgiving baking finally completed (this attractive photograph might've been taken at 4am).

But lo and behold! Pies for the masses.

This year will be quite different.

I'm excited to welcome two new members to the Pies + Petals team! I have a strong feeling that with their incredible help, I may not get to that 'After' face, and if I do... at least I won't be alone!

Dean James has played a significant part in Pies + Petals for about six months now, he's taken on many roles... from dish washer, arm model, butter-cuber, and heavy lifter, to financial advisor, visionary, market researcher, and partner in nearly every aspect.. (he also happens to be the love of my life, so that's a sweet deal.)

Melony was officially hired as a baker on October 17th! She is incredibly wonderful to be around, hard-working, and an extremely talented baker! You'll find her working out of the Jirani Coffeehouse kitchen a few days a week, and helping Pies + Petals maintain our wholesale orders.

All to say, this #piesandpetalsthanksgiving is going to be one for the books, and hopefully you will be a part of it! Everyone needs pie on Thanksgiving, so why not support a small, local business that uses real ingredients and treats each received order like the most important one?
